The Guelph Coding Community (GCC) was formed in 2013 to provide interested students with an opportunity to present topics from computer science that aren’t necessarily covered in the regular university curriculum. It was developed to foster community, while providing students with a stage to improve presentation skills, learn new things, and encourage curiosity.

In the fall of 2014, the GCC was adopted by the Society of Computing and Information Sciences student group. It puts on events approximately once every two weeks during the fall and winter semesters.
