I’m looking for 1 grad student and 1 or 2 senior (3rd year or higher) undergraduate students for several different but related data-mining projects.
The University of Guelph graduate student (current or beginning MSc or PhD) candidate should be studying computer science and have good mathematical/statistical skills, or be studying statistics and have good coding skills.
The project will involve developing appropriate code to learn from existing data to predict the probability of success of a new candidate set of information. The potential candidate should be familiar with social media APIs. Knowledge of data classification or clustering algorithms/methods would also be beneficial.
The University of Guelph undergraduate student(s) would be working with the graduate student to develop data collection protocols in order to extract publicly available data from the various social media. The undergraduate student(s) should be studying computer science or have strong coding skills and experience with social media APIs.
If you are interested and think you might fit these projects, please email me or drop by my office so that we might chat further.
